Sorry if you clicked on this hoping for free vintage. I'm planning on giving away cards sometime this year, but that's not what this post is about. What I'm writing about are some cards I received for free from ALBB on Net54. He posted saying he'd give away a 1963 Fleer card, a 1964 Topps stand-up, and a Topps insert to anyone interested. I certainly was, and claimed the cards.
Ernie Broglio was my first 1964 Topps stand-up. It's a really nice set, especially because of the beautiful colors.
Gene Freese was my second 1963 Fleer, and in way better condition than my other one. Gene Freese was a decent player, hitting .254 with 115 home runs in 12 seasons in the majors.
He also sent these two. I used to be a big Jose Altuve fan -- now, not so much. Oh well.

I love Juan Soto (you have to love anyone who hits like Ted Williams), and this was somehow my first card of him. I hope he has a great year in 2022.
Anyhow, thanks to ALBB for his generosity, and thanks for reading.
I'm here for the free vintage? ....
ReplyDeleteNaw, those are great. I really like both sets. They're among the best of the early '60s sets.
Totally cool, especially the Broglio, I'm still waiting for my first 64 stand up!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at 'free vintage'...lol. I like the 1963 Fleer set but don't own any of those.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say more or less the same thing as Crocodile. 1963 Fleer is iconic, really, but you don't see it a lot. I should try to track down a couple of the Mets.
ReplyDeleteThat Broglio is awesome! I'd like to one day pick up a few for my collection eventually.
ReplyDeleteFree vintage is the best vintage!
ReplyDeleteNice free cards - good on him to pass those on to someone who appreciates them!
ReplyDeleteThose are some neat looking cards, and it's always nice to get them for free. I see you got both Jose Altuve (the only player whose cards are actual size) and Juan Soto (who should have won the MVP this year in the NL). Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThe Stand-Ups are really cool. You don't see people giving them away for free very often.
