A Fordham college leather from the 1910s

Hi y'all! It's been awhile since I've posted, but I haven't stopped collecting.

In February 2024 I joined the collecting group Old Baseball Cards, which blogger Bo is also a member of. It's a great group - I've received a lot of generosity from its members.

Part of the reason why I haven't written about the cards I've received from its members is because for awhile I was overwhelmed by all the great cards people were sending me - a good problem to have. (Another reason is that for a long time I didn't have an easy method of uploading pictures to my blog - a problem I just solved.)

Now that I have some time in summer, I want to gradually go back and show some of the cards people have sent me.

There's a section in the group called waivers where people give away cards, and in December 2024 I received off waivers from Jake Elwell an L20 Fordham college leather.

According to COMC, the leathers were issued from 1910 to 1912 by the American Tobacco Company. They're very nice.

I was happy to get one of Fordham because my grandpa and uncle attended college there.

  1. Very cool piece of history. Never seen one of these before, but I'd love to track a few down now that I know these exist.

  2. This aspect of the group is news to me. Given how much trouble I've had trying to give away stuff on the blog the last couple of times I've tried, I can't help but wonder if these folks would let me join just so I could try and find new homes for all of my unwanted stuff?
