I had a dream.

Last  night I had a dream. I don't generally just share dreams on my blog, but this was pretty cool and more importantly was about baseball. I was doing a Yankee baseball thing. I can't remember what it was. I think it was some sort of simulation game. Anyway, I think I was playing for the Yankees and I think that I made the winning catch or something. I also remember that the Yankees won 116 games and for some reason it was in a 154 game season. I actually think it was 116-36. It actually turns out it was a dream-in-a-dream! So then in my dream I woke up and I thought wow, that was a cool dream. I think but I'm not sure, that I thought of posting it then. And then in my dream I looked up the Yankees actual record and it was 89-65. And I actually had ANOTHER dream about baseball cards where I was opening some presents and I got some nice 1959 Topps cards for some reason and some torn out pages from The Great American Flipping, Trading, and Bubblegum Book. Not so great as the 1st one but still pretty cool.

NOTES: John actually posted 3 times in one day???!!!!!??? Lethargic John???!!! Gasp! Hysterical women are lead to the exits! Utter pandemonium ensues!

MILB Player of the Week: Bob Crues.

In 1961, for the Twins D- team Tony Oliva drove in 81 runs in 64 games. That's a ton. Let's pretend  now that that year he was playing in the PCL back when they played 200 games. Now, you'd often play 210 games in the PCL because of ties and stuff, but whatever. It doesn't matter. The team Tony played for played 68 games so let's multiply everything times 3 and that's basically a PCL season. Let's see the results:
AVG   HR  RBI   H    AB   2B 3B G       R
.410     30  243   306 747     45  18 192  165.
And he would STILL not hold the single-season pro record for RBIs! The record would still go to Bob Crues. What could this Bob Crues guy have done to hold this record? you are probably asking. Let's see:
.404   69   254  228  565    38   3  140   N/A
Actually BR doesn't list how many runs he drove in- I actually got that number from the 1987 Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract. Ol' Bill is a reliable source so I'm stating that as the gospel truth. Now, the league Bob Crues was in scored a TON of runs. But however you look at it that's one insane season.

The Mega Break concluded.

The Mega Break has finally come and gone. However, not before I got some great stuff! When I entered I thought that you'd pick a team and then get the hits from that team, however, that is apparently not so. I think it was actually a kind of contest. But I was not disappointed with what I got. Apparently I got the All-Time Hit King 's autograph! That was definitely a pleasant surprise! A auto from the all-time hit king ( ahem, Pete Rose). Side note: Don't you think its weird that Topps can't even mention his name?!?!? I mean, I can get why he's not in the HOF, but, c'mon, that's kind of lame. Can't wait until I receive the card!

It's hard to think of title names.

Last night I finally joined TCDB! I'd heard about and it looks cool but I'd never actually joined. My member name is John1941. I'm already tied for 35th in Isiah Kiner-Falefa cards. I collect Isiah Kiner-Falefa because me and my family go to see the Frisco Roughriders ( the Rangers AA team about 6 times a year) and he was playing there for 2 years which is a longtime in MILB so I started collecting him. He was called up to the majors in 2018, and though he hit about .256 he was basically the Super-Utility of the Year- I mean-he even played catcher! He's still pretty young so he might good. I hope he does because its hard if the home team is miserable even if you Don't root for them.

Strat-O-Mat-Ic.

Strat-O-Mat-Ic is a tabletop baseball game. Its really fun and pretty accurate. Its also pretty quick-about half-an-hour. Anyway, last Christmas my Uncle Charlie wanted to give me his old Stratomatic cards but he couldn't find them. However, he did get me a nice lot of Ebay of the 1985 game and some oldtimer teams, which, if I remember correctly, are from 1973 or something. However, this year he apparently found his cards because I found about a half-dozen envelopes with Stratomatic stuff in them. I got the 1978 game, about 6 1989 teams, and a few 1994 teams. I got the1922 Browns too. I even got some totally random cards like 6 1968 cards that I think are originals( 5 pitchers with a ERA of 2.12 or lower and Willie McCovey) plus a 1961 Johnny Blanchard and 1950 Hank Bauer. I also got the 1941 Yankees and the 1954 Giants though Joe DiMaggio and Willie Mays are missing. Also the 1978 Yankees are missing Ron Guidry while ten 1909 Tigers are missing Ty Cobb, so if any of ya'll have any of those then good things shall come your way ( though if you do have some you should make sure that I have what you want).

Eddie Stanky.

For some reason I have always loved the name Eddie Stanky. I just love the sound of his last name. Stanky. Random theory for why: I'm a big Little Rascals fan and Stanky is basically a combination of stymie and spanky ( mostly spanky).

P.S: I'm probably going to do picture-less posts until I get back to TX.
